American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)

“Sign Up Sister!”
It is with great appreciation that the Sister Study shines a spotlight on the American Association of Retired Persons, for including a piece entitled “Sign Up Sister!” in their May 2005 AARP Bulletin. This short article helped spread the word to eligible women all over the country, and thousands of women who enrolled mentioned the AARP as their source of information. Then, in October 2005, the Sister Study was mentioned in Segunda Juventud, a quarterly AARP Spanish-English magazine for the booming Hispanic community age 50+. Again, AARP dedicated precious print space to encourage women, particularly Latinas to enroll in the study.
With over 35 million members, AARP is the leading nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization for people age 50 and over in the United States. The AARP mission is to lead positive social change and deliver value to members through information, advocacy and service.
We appreciate AARP’s dedication to breast cancer research and support of the Sister Study by encouraging women to join!
